Software architect for text analysis at SAP, Palo Alto, CA.

Graduated from ISU in computer science. Have been creating commercial software ever since, first in southern California, then in the silicon valley. See my page on linkedin.com.

Met Maria at ISU, and we've been together ever since. Maria is a product manager at Oracle. We have two beautiful girls, Claire and Ellie, and live in semi-rural Lafayette, east of Oakland, CA.

I don't ride my bike much anymore, but I occasionally manage to get my Formula Ford race car on the track at Sears Point and Laguna Seca.

Sometimes I find time to play guitar.

Interesting class-of-80 connection: my mother married Carl Zytowski's father. Carl and his brother Eric both live in the Seattle area.

From time to time I talk to John Wright and Sarah Buelt (Abraham).

I was kind of checked out of high school socially. I spent all my spare time training and traveling around the Midwest to bicycle races for the Releigh USA team with Eric Larson and several adult racers from Ames. When I wasn't doing that, I was working at Michael's Cyclery, trying to pay for all the equipment.

Brush with fame: I was friends with Andy Hampsten (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Hampsten) and once was in a race with Greg Lemond!

Maria and I met as part of a student work exchange program to Germany. So all those years in Frau Darlington's class finally paid off when I worked at the university of Munich one summer! I've been back a few times since, and co-incidentally, I now work for a German company, SAP.

One of the trips to Germany was with my brother Jon ('82), who is a pilot for Frontier airlines, to pick up a new Airbus A320 in Hamburg. I got a free trip back to the US in it, with just a few employees and full service.

My mother, Kay, still lives in Ames, and I get back occasionally.

Would like to start my own software company. It's hard to give up the paycheck though.
